Quick Facts Regarding Artificial Turf
‘Artificial turf ‘is the current term used to describe this product, yet we also regularly refer to it by; astro turf, synthetic turf or grass, plastic turf, field turf, & poly turf.
The demand for synthetic turf is growing by more than 25% every year!
Kitchener-Waterloo & Surrounding Areas in Southern Ontario have invited Artificial Grass into their Designs!
Landscaping with CREATIVE synthetic turf will provide you with much more than a beautiful lawn and a way of conserving water. These premium synthetic grasses will enhance the look and value of your home, while freeing up more of your time so you can focus on the important things in life.
Now you can indulge in your favourite pastimes, while doing something good for the environment, eliminating the hassles of seeding, mowing, watering, weeding, and seasonal maintenance that comes with natural grass.
Artificial grass provides many benefits for residential and commercial landscapes, sports fields, and golf courses. Landscapers and architects are now promoting the advantages artificial grass provides, and many homeowners are using the turf to ensure that their lawns remain well-manicured and in perfect condition. Artificial grass is crafted from synthetic or man-made fibres that look strikingly similar to real blades of grass.
How Is Artificial Turf Installed? General Installation of Artificial Grass
Many clients ask us if artificial turf can be laid on concrete, or existing patio pavers. Well here is our recommended practice for best results!
While specific installation methods for artificial grass depend upon the grade of grass and its application, several steps are applicable for all turf. Before you install synthetic turf, you will need to ensure that you have accurately measured the area you wish to cover. Determine how much turf you will need to cover your intended area, and prepare for the possibility that pre-cut sections may need to be adjusted in order to fit your diagram. Consider the width and overall length of the raw material in order to eliminate seems where possible, and make your install much easier! Make certain to include measurements of borders, edgings, and curbs that may be present. Be sure to clear the area that will be treated by removing debris, rocks, grass, roots, mulch, and anything else that would pose a hazard to the turf. After the area is cleared, the ground is covered with a base and compacted, and then the turf is installed. After the turf is set in place, the perimeter is secured and a layer of infill is applied.

Cost & Planning of Synthetic Grass / Turf Projects
Artificial grass prices vary depending upon the grade or quality of grass, amount needed, and materials used in construction. When self-installing artificial grass, materials are purchased by the square foot. Prices vary and may range from $2.99 to $6.50 per square foot. General high quality turf is available for $4.50 per square foot.

Quick Tips On Artificial Putting Greens
What better way is there to practise putting or entertaining guests than having a personal putting green designed into your landscape and living space, or even indoors! For those commercial accounts, why not add a putting green near the lunch area, or in the office, so that your staff and / or clients can enjoy practicing outside of the golfcourse!
We offer the perfect solution to any sized putting green with our premium selection of golf products. Our putting greens react to putts and chips like natural grass greens. The stimp meter rating on artificial putting turfs is incredibly similar to that of a PGA green. Clients with experience on manufactured putting greens say the accuracy is phenomenal, and the practice therefore very complimentary to their overall golf game.
How to Clean & Care for Synthetic Turf Grass
Rain is your best cleanser. Rainfall gently cleans the turf fibres of dust, pollen and airborne pollutants in way that is difficult to duplicate in any other fashion. In areas where rainfall is scarce–or during prolonged periods of drought–an occasional water flush is beneficial to soak and thus cleanse the turf system. This procedure is recommended for all turf systems.
Most stains on polyolefin artificial turf can be removed with water or soap and water. The first rule is promptness. It is much easier to clean up a fresh spill before it has time to dry and harden. Remove any solid or putty-like deposit promptly using a dull knife or spatula-like tool. Blot up excess liquids with a stack of towels, cloth or paper. Dry absorbent clay-based materials, such as cat litter absorbers (“kitty litter”) can be very useful. Such dry absorbers can be swept or vacuumed up.
Fill in hollow spots. These are areas in the synthetic turf where the level of rubber may be slightly lower than the surface overall. They are generally discovered over several weeks after the initial placement of rubber in the turf. These areas generally cannot be seen but can be felt when walking on the turf–they feel like depressions or low spots on the surface.
Cross brushing your filled synthetic turf is the single most effective way to keep it in top form. Brushing a filled turf field keeps the fill uniform and suitably embedded in the fibres rather than on the tips of the surface. “Cross brushing” means that all brushing activities, no matter what kind of equipment is used, takes place against the grain, nap or sweep of the turf fibres. (Note – all synthetic turf is made with a slight grain)
